Baseball Game Preview: Marion Giants vs. Anderson Indians

Marion is 2-8 against Anderson since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Giants will be playing at home against the Indians at 5:30 p.m. Marion has given up an average of 8.9 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Marion is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 13th straight game dating back to last season on Monday. They lost 15-9 to Madison-Grant.

Caleb Richardson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That double was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Mason Bunch, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one double.

Anderson hadn't beaten Connersville on the road since May 23, 2019 but that history sure didn't bother them on Saturday. The Indians walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Spartans.

Kaydin Hutchison spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Anderson let Isaac McKenzie and Steven Reyes run wild. McKenzie went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Reyes went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run. Those two doubles gave Reyes a new career-high.

Anderson has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Marion, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-11.
