Recap: Grand Island Central Catholic Crusaders vs. Ord Chanticleers
The Grand Island Central Catholic Crusaders scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 59-45 victory over Ord. The win was just what Grand Island Central Catholic needed coming off of a 74-42 defeat in their prior match.
Grand Island Central Catholic's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carolyn Maser, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds. Maser hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. Anna Tibbetts was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Despite the loss, Ord still got an impressive performance from Marin Reilly, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Natalie Williams, who scored nine points.
Grand Island Central Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Ord, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grand Island Central Catholic won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Seward on December 22nd. Seward will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 45th, while Grand Island Central Catholic is ranked seventh). Ord will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Cozad on January 2, 2024.
