Baseball Game Preview: Ponderosa Bruins vs. Inderkum Tigers

The Ponderosa Bruins will challenge the Inderkum Tigers at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Ponderosa has now lost 11 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 11.

Ponderosa fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Del Campo on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 6-5.

Sam Patterson was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. What's more, he gave up only two walks, the fewest he's had since back in March.

On the hitting side, Ponderosa saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Garrett Snyder, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Inderkum faced off against Del Campo on Monday. The Tigers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 win over the Cougars. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Tigers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Alton Lee was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. He is becoming a predictor of Inderkum's success: when he allows at most three earned runs the team is 4-2 (and 6-10 when he doesn't). Lee was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jaylen Dawson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs and one triple. He has become a key player for Inderkum: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-11 otherwise.

Inderkum's record is now 10-12. As for Ponderosa, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-15.

Ponderosa took their win against Inderkum in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 7-1 score. Do the Bruins have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
