Basketball Recap: Jones Comes Up Short

Jones was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Southside Seahawks and fell 79-46. The Trojans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-14.

Southside was led to victory by Jeremiah Satchell and Josh Armstrong. Satchell went 11 for 24 en route to 26 points and three steals, while Armstrong went 8 of 14 to rack up 17 points along with seven boards and four steals. The matchup was Armstrong's fifth in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Green, who posted ten points and five rebounds.

Jones' loss dropped their record down to 1-19. As for Southside, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-14.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jones will venture away from home to face off against Lejeune at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Lejeune knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 games -- so hopefully Jones likes a good challenge. As for Southside, they are taking a road trip to take on Pamlico County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Southside is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.8 points per game this season.
