Basketball Game Preview: Belmont Braves vs. Barneveld Eagles

Belmont is on a four-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Barneveld is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Belmont Braves will welcome the Barneveld Eagles at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Tuesday, Belmont strolled past Highland with points to spare, taking the game 59-44. Given the Braves' advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 147th, while the Cardinals are ranked 295th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Barneveld hadn't done well against Pecatonica/Argyle recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Barneveld came out on top against Pecatonica/Argyle by a score of 80-68.

Belmont's win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Barneveld, they have also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Belmont strolled past Barneveld when the teams last played back in February of 2024 by a score of 45-30. Does Belmont have another victory up their sleeve, or will Barneveld turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
