Basketball Recap: Layton Drops Highest Score of Season Against Sky View

Layton scored the most points they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They fell 52-45 to the Sky View Bobcats. The Lancers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bobcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2016.

Despite the loss, Layton still got an impressive performance from Lindsey Thurgood, who went 9 of 15 en route to 21 points. The dominant performance gave Thurgood a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hadley Collier, who posted six points along with eight assists and five steals.

Claire Fischer was a one-woman wrecking crew for Sky View as she dropped a double-double on 28 points and 13 boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Fischer has scored at least a third of Sky View's points. Mya Eskelson was another key player, putting up 11 points and seven assists.

Layton's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Sky View, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Layton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 71-23 defeat against Lone Peak on the 4th. As for Sky View, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 45-32 victory against Jordan on the 4th.
