Basketball Recap: River Bluff Comes Up Short

River Bluff had lost nine straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 2-20 to make it ten. They took a 63-47 bruising from the Irmo Yellow Jackets. The Gators were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Yellow Jackets earlier this season, when they won 61-59.

As for Irmo, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 17-5. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points over those games.

Irmo found their leader in freshman Khiry White, who shot 80% from the field on his way to 17 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Brown, who went 5-for-11 to rack up 17 points.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. River Bluff will square off against Chapin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Gators will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 64.33 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Irmo, they will take on White Knoll at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Yellow Jackets' defense better be ready for this one: the Timberwolves have averaged an impressive 55.7 points per game this season.
