The Riverdale Rams will venture away from home to square off against the Sherrard Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Riverdale was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Monmouth-Roseville on Thursday. The Rams never let the Titans get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Gaege Heinsen and Landen Peterson made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Heinsen didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over 4.2 innings pitched. Meanwhile, Peterson tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Heinsen has become a key player for Riverdale: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most three hits, but 3-5 otherwise. At bat, Heinsen scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Peterson scored two runs while going 1-for-2. Heinsen also put up a double, which was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Colton Huffman was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. Jax McClaine also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Riverdale was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Tigers on Saturday. Sherrard blew past Princeton 11-4. Sherrard might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Eli Matson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Matson was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Harrison Curry, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Richard Shannon, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Sherrard has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Riverdale, their record now sits at 5-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Riverdale has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Sherrard struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Riverdale might still be hurting after the 15-4 defeat they got from Sherrard when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
