Basketball Recap: Northwestern Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Anna Bishir and Maci Rody

Northwestern was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 51-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Northfield Norsemen.

Northwestern's loss came despite strong showings from Maci Rody and Anna Bishir. Rody dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards, while Bishir posted 13 points and seven steals. Those seven steals gave Bishir a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Berkley Wray, who earned two points in addition to five rebounds and five blocks.

Northfield got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Elli Baker out in front who had 16 points and six boards. Baker continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Callie Hoffman, who put up eight points and ten rebounds.

Northwestern's record now sits at 6-11. As for Northfield, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Northwestern Tigers face off against the Western Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Northfield, they will head out to square off against Peru at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Peru will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Northfield surely won't give up without a fight.
