Softball Recap: Friday's Loss Ends Fairfield's Winning Streak

Fairfield fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Elkhart on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Elks by a score of 4-2. The Eagles' defeat signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.

Haylee Allen spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 17 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Fairfield saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evelyn Fultz, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Fairfield's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 11-3. As for Elkhart, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 16-5.
