Baseball Game Preview: Bronson Eagles vs. Hawthorne Hornets

Bronson has gone 9-1 against Hawthorne recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Bronson Eagles will face off against the Hawthorne Hornets at 7:30 p.m.

Bronson fell victim to Bell and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Bronson saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zach McClelland, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. McClelland has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

Meanwhile, Hawthorne hadn't done well against Oak Hall recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Hawthorne narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Oak Hall 6-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hornets.

The team relied heavily on Loniki 'LJ' Jackson, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-2. Branson Byrd was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

Hawthorne was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oak Hall only posted a batting average of .214.

Bronson's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Hawthorne, they picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 4-5.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Bronson has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Hawthorne struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Bronson skirted past Hawthorne 4-2 in their previous matchup last Monday. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bronson since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
