Baseball Recap: Luverne Comes Up Short

Luverne managed to slip by Fairmont the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Luverne lost 14-3 to Fairmont on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Luverne has suffered against Fairmont since April 29, 2019.

Luverne saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Blake Sauer, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

This is the second loss in a row for Luverne and nudges their season record down to 3-2. As for Fairmont, the victory (which was their fifth in a row dating back to last season) raised their record to 2-0.

Looking ahead, Luverne will venture away from home to square off against Jackson County Central at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fairmont, they will take on Blue Earth at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cardinals are facing the Buccaneers at the right time seeing as the Buccaneers are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
