Softball Recap: Academy of the New Church Lions vs. Friends Select
Academy of the New Church stacked a fourth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Friends Select as the Academy of the New Church Lions made off with a 14-3 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for Academy of the New Church.
Jamie Madara was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. Madara has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in five consecutive pitching appearances. Madara was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and a stolen base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Maggie Dooley was a standout: she scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Olivia Schriver, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, a triple, and a double.
Academy of the New Church pushed their record up to 6-1 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Friends Select, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
