Baseball Game Preview: Granger Lancers vs. West Jordan Jaguars

For the second straight game, Granger will face off against West Jordan. The Lancers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Jaguars at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Granger has given up an average of 8.4 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Things were looking good for Granger after they put the first run on the board on Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They came up short against West Jordan, falling 19-9. The loss continues a trend for the Lancers in their meetings with the Jaguars: they've now lost eight in a row.

For West Jordan's part, Dannon Hall made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. What's more, Hall posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, West Jordan got a massive performance out of Brendan Wood, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Wood a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cody Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one double.

West Jordan is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Granger, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-14.
