Basketball Recap: Weddington Beats Porter Ridge for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Weddington entered their tilt with Porter Ridge on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They took down the Porter Ridge Pirates 53-35. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while the Pirates are ranked 408th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Weddington was led to victory by KJ Younger and Jake Ford. Younger went 8 of 13 on his way to 19 points and eight boards, while Ford posted 11 points. Younger's evening made it 23 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Jaden Nnaji was another key player, putting up four points and seven rebounds.

Weddington smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Weddington is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. As for Porter Ridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-16.
