Webster Groves had lost five games straight , but after bumping their record up to 9-19 on Wednesday that streak is in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out the Festus Tigers 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Statesmen have posted since May 31, 2024.

As for Festus, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-9-1 record this season. Their defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

For Festus' part, Brady Nolen made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. Jackson Ijames was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Webster Groves will face off against St. Dominic at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Festus, they will square off against DeSoto at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Dragons will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight.
