Baseball Game Preview: Skyline Hawks vs. Brentsville District Tigers

The Skyline Hawks will head out to challenge the Brentsville District Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Skyline has given up an average of 9.6 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Things were looking good for Skyline after they put the first points on the board on Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took a 13-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of Central Woodstock.

Kaleb Matthews was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Joey Pendleton and Cameron Kerns stepped up to the plate in a big way. Pendleton scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Kerns scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Kerns a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Izaiah Matthews, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Meanwhile, while Brentsville District put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Millbrook. Brentsville District had just enough and edged out Millbrook 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since May 10, 2024.

The win got Brentsville District back to even at 2-2. As for Skyline, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
