Basketball Recap: Saturday's Defeat Ends Victory Christian Academy's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Victory Christian Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 65-55 to the La Lumiere Blue Lakers. The Lions were probably out for revenge after losing 77-71 to them when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Victory Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Gavin Whitaker, who went 6 of 12 en route to 19 points and five rebounds. Whitaker's afternoon made it 12 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Herrold, who went 7 for 10 on his way to 15 points in addition to six assists and six boards.

Victory Christian Academy's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 10-3. As for La Lumiere Blue, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

While Victory Christian Academy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
