Recap: Waxahachie Indians vs. Mansfield Tigers
Even though the Mansfield Tigers scored an imposing 58 points on Tuesday, the Waxahachie Indians still came out on top. Waxahachie put the hurt on Mansfield with a sharp 84-58 win. Given Waxahachie's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while Mansfield is ranked 298th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Waxahachie to victory, but perhaps none more so than Parker Jefferson, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Jefferson has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more points the last four times he's played. Isayah Pankey was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with four steals.
Waxahachie has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-10 record this season. As for Mansfield, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-17.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Waxahachie will take on Lake Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lake Ridge knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 19 contests -- so hopefully Waxahachie likes a good challenge. As for Mansfield, they will be playing at home against Skyline at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Skyline has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
