Softball Game Preview: Daphne Trojans vs. Mary G. Montgomery Vikings

Daphne is a perfect 10-0 against Mary G. Montgomery since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Trojans will square off against the Vikings at 9:00 a.m. Daphne will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Daphne is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Fairhope 5-3.

Victoria Moten spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on three hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Abby J Johnson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Dasia Matt, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Meanwhile, Mary G. Montgomery lost 14-2 to Baker last Saturday. The loss continues a trend for the Vikings in their meetings with the Hornets: they've now lost four in a row.

Daphne's win was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 36-6. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mary G. Montgomery, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-17-1.

Daphne beat Mary G. Montgomery 4-0 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
