Volleyball Recap: Elmwood Takes a Loss

Elmwood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 2-0 to the Macomb Bombers. If the Trojans were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Bombers when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Elmwood was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-17.

Gianna Ramirex paced Elmwood's offense, picking up seven kills. Ramirex got some help from Payge Ryan and her ten assists. Lexi Begner controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Macomb had a senior duo take command as Jordyn Shoopman had seven digs and five aces and Emily Westerhold had nine digs and two assists. Those five aces set a new season-high mark for Shoopman.

Elmwood's defeat dropped their record down to 20-10. As for Macomb, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 17-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elmwood will host Midwest Central at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Macomb, they will be taking part in a tournament against Lincoln at 2:15 p.m. on Friday.
