Basketball Game Preview: Adams Central Patriots vs. Cozad Haymakers

Having just played yesterday, the Adams Central Patriots will jump right back in to play the Cozad Haymakers at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a five-game winning streak alive.

On Friday, Adams Central beat Fillmore Central 68-60.

Adams Central relied on the efforts of Hunter Nepple, who posted 29 points, and Austin Vontz, who earned 25 points. The dominant performance gave Vontz a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Jackson Foster, who put up six points.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cozad). They claimed a resounding 79-38 win over Cambridge. The Haymakers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 37 points or more this season.

Adams Central better keep an eye on Noah Shoemaker. He was instrumental in Cozad's win, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. With that strong performance, Shoemaker is now averaging an impressive 15.4 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Olliver Davis, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 13 points and seven rebounds.

Cozad was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cambridge only racked up eight assists.

Cozad pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Adams Central, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.

Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Adams Central hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 60.3 points per game. However, it's not like Cozad struggles in that department as they've been averaging 66.2 points.
