Softball Recap: Make It Seven in a Row for Caldera

Caldera entered their tilt with Summit on Friday with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. They put the hurt on the Storm with a sharp 15-1 win. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 16-3 win back in April.

Brooke Chapin made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Caldera got a massive performance out of Makenzie Guerin, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Avery Keldsen, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Caldera was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in seven consecutive games.

Caldera's record now sits at 23-1. As for Summit, their defeat was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-23.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Caldera will take on Crook County at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Summit, they will square off against Bend at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Storm's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lava Bears have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season.
