Softball Recap: Mountain View Takes a Loss

Mountain View had lost four straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 1-6 to make it five. They came up short against the Kelso Hilanders, falling 17-0. The Thunder were not able to make up for their defeat to the Hilanders from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.

As for Kelso, the win got them back to even at 5-5. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Kelso's part, Mountain View's batters probably weren't too happy with Kylie Killett, who pitched a no hitter and racked up ten Ks (she gave up a single walk). Killett has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. Hailey Chapin relieved her and did a solid job, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brooke Hefley, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brianna Wesemann, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and two runs.

Mountain View didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 6-4 loss against Heritage on the 17th. As for Kelso, they have also already played their next matchup, a 12-2 victory against Battle Ground on the 17th.
