Baseball Recap: Pomona Comes Up Short

Pomona lost against Dakota Ridge back in April, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Panthers fell 8-5 to the Eagles. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Gage Douglas was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Pomona: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-13 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Damani Chavez, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Pomona's defeat dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Dakota Ridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-11 record this season.

Pomona didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 5-2 win against Conifer on the 9th. As for Dakota Ridge, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 16-8 victory against Littleton on the 9th.
