Baseball Preview: St. John's Islanders vs. Charleston Math & Science Riptide

The St. John's Islanders will head out on the road to face off against the Charleston Math & Science Riptide at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.

St. John's can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Cross a 25-0 shutout. The victory was just what St. John's needed coming off of a 14-4 defeat in their prior contest.

Casey Graham made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (he also only allowed one walk). Graham was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, a triple, and a run.

He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and only two hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. Spickard has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive pitching appearances. Spickard was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Charleston Math & Science let Greyson Miles and Reeves Sicard loose on the outfield. Miles went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and a stolen base, while Sicard scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Sicard is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now stolen at least one in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Marchant, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
