Football Recap: Roosevelt Extends Home Winning Streak to Five + How To Watch

Roosevelt won the last time they faced Hoover and things went their way on Friday too. The Rough Riders walked away with a 27-17 victory over the Patriots. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Rough Riders' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 253rd, while the Patriots are ranked 581st).

Roosevelt found their leader in sophomore Ehis Idoni, who rushed for 238 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 11.9 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Cj Barker, who rushed for 29 yards and one touchdown.

Roosevelt was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 282 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hoover only rushed for 146.

When it comes to explaining why Hoover lost, don't look at Cam Mobley. Despite the final result, he rushed for 110 yards and one score on only 15 carries, and also threw for 177 yards on 13 of 26 attempts.

Roosevelt pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 34.0 points over those games. As for Hoover, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Coming up, Roosevelt will welcome Fresno at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rough Riders will be up against the Warriors' rather soft defense (which has allowed 39.56 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Hoover, they will venture away from home to challenge McLane at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Patriots will need to watch out since the Highlanders have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
