The Chester Yellowjackets will square off against the Carlyle Indians/Lady Indians at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chester is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
On Monday, Chester narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Ste. Genevieve 5-3.

Lexie Mott was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Avery Hasemeyer, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Camryn Wolff, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Carlyle came up short against Red Bud on Thursday and fell 6-1.
Carlyle saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Hoffmann, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Chester has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Carlyle, they dropped their record down to 6-6 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Chester hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .321. However, it's not like Carlyle struggles in that department as they've averaged .380. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Chester came out on top in a nail-biter against Carlyle in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 5-3. Will the Yellowjackets repeat their success, or do the Indians/Lady Indians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
