Softball Recap: Casey County Find Success

Casey County came out on top against Rockcastle County on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Rebels walked away with a 7-2 win over the Rockets. This was a revenge game for the Rebels: when they faced off against the Rockets on Tuesday, they had to take a 1-0 loss.

Harmony Meece/Richardson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Aslan Wethington was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Grace Mason was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Casey County's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 12-8. As for Rockcastle County, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Casey County will head out to take on Wayne County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Rockcastle County, they will venture away from home to face off against South Laurel at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cardinals will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Rockets surely won't give up without a fight.
