Rock Port had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against the Worth County/Northeast Nodaway Tigers by a score of 34-26 on Friday. This was payback for the Blue Jays, who suffered a 52-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Brock Holmes had a dynamite game, rushing for 205 yards and three scores while picking up 7.9 yards per carry.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Rock Port was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 219 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 154 rushing yards in four consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Rock Port didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Jack Meyerkorth.

Coming up, Rock Port will take on Princeton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Worth County/Northeast Nodaway, they will square off against South Holt at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
