Rock Port had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with a 34-26 win over the Worth County/Northeast Nodaway Tigers on Friday. This was payback for the Blue Jays, who suffered a 52-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Brock Holmes went supernova, rushing for 191 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Rock Port was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 205 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 154 rushing yards in four consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Rock Port didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Jack Meyerkorth.

Rock Port wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 76-6 victory against Princeton on the 5th. As for Worth County/Northeast Nodaway, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 56-0 win against South Holt on the 5th.
