Preview: Ontario Christian Knights vs. Woodcrest Christian Royals
Ontario Christian has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Woodcrest Christian Royals at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Ontario Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Friday.
Ontario Christian pushed their score all the way to 60, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 70-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Arrowhead Christian. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Ontario Christian in their matchups with Arrowhead Christian: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, Ontario Christian had strong showings from Cole Jones, who scored 23 points along with nine rebounds, and Alex Yang, who scored 20 points along with five assists. Another player making a difference was Jack Schloeman, who scored four points along with five assists and three steals.
Woodcrest Christian suffered their biggest defeat since December 12, 2023 on Friday. They were dealt a 57-30 defeat at the hands of Aquinas. While losing is never fun, Woodcrest Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 765th, while Aquinas is ranked 291st).
Ontario Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Woodcrest Christian, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 12-12.
Ontario Christian strolled past Woodcrest Christian in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a score of 67-53. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ontario Christian since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
