Softball Recap: Voorheesville Triumphs

Voorheesville's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Salem Generals, sneaking past 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Blackbirds have posted since May 6, 2024.

Voorheesville saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lauren Sokolowski, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Madi Bourdeau also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Voorheesville's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Salem, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Looking ahead, Voorheesville will be taking part in a tournament against Maple Hill at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Blackbirds' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. As for Salem, they will host Granville at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
