Volleyball Game Preview: Casteel Colts vs. Hamilton Huskies

Casteel has gone a perfect 3-0 against Hamilton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Colts will host the Huskies at 5:30 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Thursday.

Casteel is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Arizona's top teams: Mountain Ridge, who was ranked 23rd at the time (Casteel was ranked seventh). The Colts put the hurt on the Mountain Lions with a sharp 3-0 victory on Wednesday. The win was nothing new for the Colts as they're now sitting on three straight.

Casteel walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the third set). The final score came out to 25-16, 25-19, 25-14.

Will Schneiderman and Layton Bluth were among the main playmakers for Casteel as the former had 11 digs and four assists and the latter had four digs and one block. Bluth is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now posted 12 or more in each of the last 17 games he's played.

Casteel couldn't miss and finished the game having scored on 45.2% of their attack attempts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hitting percentage total in four consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Hamilton made easy work of Rincon/University on Wednesday and carried off a 3-0 win. The Huskies have beaten the Rangers the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Rangers has come to flipping the script.

Hamilton's victory bumped their record up to 16-19. As for Casteel, they pushed their record up to 27-11-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Casteel beat Hamilton 3-1 in their previous matchup back in April. Will the Colts repeat their success, or do the Huskies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
