Baseball Game Preview: Sabetha Bluejays vs. Jefferson West Tigers

The Sabetha Bluejays will challenge the Jefferson West Tigers on Monday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

While Sabetha's victory against Hiawatha wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bluejays had just enough and edged out the Red Hawks 2-1 on Thursday. The Bluejays haven't had any issues with the Red Hawks recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Isaac Hartter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on one hit.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mitchel Kramer, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Reid Mitchell also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Meanwhile, Jefferson West strolled into their game on Thursday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against Valley Falls.

Jefferson West's victory was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-0. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Sabetha, their victory bumped their record up to 7-9.

Sabetha skirted past Jefferson West 3-2 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Do the Bluejays have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
