Basketball Game Preview: San Gabriel Matadors vs. Montebello Oilers

The San Gabriel Matadors will venture away from home to challenge the Montebello Oilers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Tuesday, San Gabriel was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 61-55 to Alhambra. The Matadors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Montebello was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took a hard 63-47 fall against Schurr.

Montebello's defeat dropped their record down to 3-18. As for San Gabriel, their loss dropped their record down to 13-8.

San Gabriel took their win against Montebello in their previous meeting back in January of 2024 by a conclusive 68-43. The rematch might be a little tougher for San Gabriel since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
