Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Gus Carvalho and Nate Reckers Lead Bartram Trail to Victory

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Bartram Trail walked away with it. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Ponte Vedra Sharks on Tuesday, sneaking past 3-2. That's the fourth time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 3-1 victory last Tuesday.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (101-98) Bartram Trail actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The match finished with set scores of 17-25, 25-20, 16-25, 25-19, 15-12.

Leading Bartram Trail to victory were Nate Reckers and Gus Carvalho. Reckers had 14 digs and three aces, while Carvalho had seven aces and five digs. Those seven aces gave Carvalho a new career-high.

Bartram Trail's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-17. As for Ponte Vedra, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-8.

Looking ahead, Bartram Trail will square off against Nease at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Bears surely won't give up without a fight. Ponte Vedra does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
