Dutchtown has gone 8-2 against East Ascension recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Griffins will take on the Spartans at 1:00 p.m. Dutchtown's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so East Ascension's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Dutchtown is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Louisiana's top teams: Walker, who was ranked 19th at the time (Dutchtown was ranked 15th). The Griffins fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 7-6 on Thursday. The Griffins' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, East Ascension came up short against Dunham on Thursday, falling 10-3. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Hudson Browning made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run. He has become a key player for East Ascension: the team is 6-2 when he posts at least one home run, but 8-13-1 otherwise. Ethan Dille was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Dutchtown's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 8-1 and their overall record down to 21-12. As for East Ascension, they now have a losing record of 14-15-1.

Dutchtown skirted past East Ascension 7-5 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Griffins since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
