Softball Recap: Bedford North Lawrence Takes a Loss

Bedford North Lawrence had lost three straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 11-7 to make it four. They lost 12-3 to the Center Grove Trojans. The Stars were not able to make up for their defeat to the Trojans from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Bedford North Lawrence saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kendall Graves, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

As for Center Grove, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-2. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games.

On Center Grove's side, Sarah Riley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks. Riley has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mae Munson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Hayden Baird was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Coming up, Bedford North Lawrence will take on Mitchell at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Center Grove, they will be playing at home against Cascade at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cadets have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season.
