Baseball Game Preview: Winnfield Tigers vs. Lakeside Warriors

The Winnfield Tigers will head out to take on the Lakeside Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

On Thursday, Winnfield got the win against Lakeside by a conclusive 9-2. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by six runs or more this season.

Jacob Whisonant made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Daniel Luke Page was incredible, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3. Aron Guerrero was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

Winnfield is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. Lakeside is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-10.
