Basketball Recap: Providence Academy Comes Up Short

If Providence Academy was feeling good fresh off their 66-6 takedown of White Academy last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Providence Academy took a 62-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the King's Academy Lions on Friday. While losing is never fun, Providence Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 216th, while King's Academy is ranked 42nd).

When it comes to explaining why Providence Academy lost, don't look at Kinley Painter. Despite the final result, she went 10 for 23 en route to 23 points and eight steals. Painter's evening made it eight games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy Phillips, who went 6 of 14 on her way to 16 points and six rebounds.

Providence Academy's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-9. As for King's Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-3.

Providence Academy has already played their next game, a 56-24 win against Appalachian Christian HomeSchool on the 20th. As for King's Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 45-39 victory against Silverdale Academy on the 18th.
