Highlighted by National Freshman of the Year Harry Giles of Wesleyan Christian Academy (High Point, N.C.), MaxPreps presents the 2012-13 Boys Basketball Freshmen All-American Team.

Selections are based on team success, statistics and local, regional and state honors from the recently completed season. Potential at the college or professional level is not a primary consideration. Players in post-graduate programs are not eligible for inclusion.

FIRST TEAM

NATIONAL FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR
Harry Giles, Wesleyan Christian Academy (High Point, N.C.)

Joined Theo Pinson and JaQuel Richmond in leading Wesleyan Christian Academy to private school state title in North Carolina, posting 12.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.



Eron Gordon, North Central (Indianapolis)
6-2 | 160 | Guard

Honorable mention Associated Press All-State pick scored 31 in varsity debut against state-ranked Indianapolis rival, averaged 19.3 points per game for the season.

Josh Langford, Madison Academy (Ala.)
6-5 | 190 | Guard

Alabama's Class 3A Player of the Year put up big totals of 23.9 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game.

Thon Maker, Carlisle School (Martinsville, Va.)
6-11 | 200 | Center

Arrived at Carlisle in November via Sudan and Australia after a quick stop in Louisiana, posting totals of 23.4 points, 12.9 rebounds and 4.9 blocked shots per game in third division of Virginia's private school ranks.

Seventh Woods, Hammond (Columbia, S.C.)
6-1 | 165 | Guard

Became national name in middle school and delivered the goods as a freshman, putting up 19.3 points, 4.3 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game.

SECOND TEAM

Braxton Blackwell, Christ Presbyterian Academy (Nashville, Tenn.)
6-7 | 190 | Forward

Nephew of Ralph Sampson posted 13.1 points, 8 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game for Tennessee's Class AA state champs.



Juwan Durham, Tampa Prep (Fla.)
6-9 | 200 | Forward-Center

Played major role for 27-3 Class 3A runner-up, tallying 14 points, nine rebounds and more than two blocked shots per game.

Joshua Jackson, Consortium College Prep (Detroit)
6-6 | 165 | Guard

Highly touted rookie posted around 17 points and six rebounds per outing to earn Associated Press Class C All-State honors.

V.J. King, St. Vincent-St. Mary (Akron, Ohio)
6-6 | 175 | Guard-Forward

Following in footsteps of LeBron James at SVSM, led 20-win Fighting Irish in scoring at 16.3 points per game.

Jayson Tatum, Chaminade (St. Louis)
6-6 | 170 | Guard

Playing at same school that produced Brad Beal, named Class 5 first team All-State by Missouri Sportswriters and Sportcasters after tacking up more than 13 points and grabbing six rebounds per game.

With Cincinnati-bound senior Jermaine Lawrence injured for much of season, Star-Ledger West Jersey POY helped fill the void by averaging 16.3 points and 7.1 assists per game.



De'Ron Davis, Overland (Aurora, Colo.)

One of the most intriguing prospects in the 2016 class, delivered 12.4 points, 9.4 rebounds and 3.4 blocked shots per game in rookie campaign.

Kobi Jordan-Simmons, St. Francis (Alpharetta, Ga.)
6-4 | 170 | Guard

St. Francis could emerge as national power in coming seasons with Jordan-Simmons (14.3 points, 3.9 assists, 2.7 rebounds per game) joining standout sophomores Josh Coleman and Kaiser Gates.

Trevor Stanback, Chaminade (West Hills, Calif.)

Younger brother of former UCLA and UNLV standout Chase Stanback averaged 9.1 points, 10.1 rebounds and around five blocked shots per game.

With promising, true 7-footers sorely lacking in the American hoops landscape, Long really stands out – as do his averages of around 15 points, 13 rebounds and eight blocked shots per game.

Followed impressive outing at USA Basketball developmental mini-camp last October by leading EPC to 2A state title game.
