Shelley came tearing into Saturday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Minico Spartans as they made off with a 16-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Russets, who have now won four games by six runs or more so far this season.

Carlie Hurd was a standout: she scored three runs while going 2-for-3. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Audrey Wattenbarger, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Shelley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Minico only posted a batting average of .118.

Shelley's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Minico, they dropped their record down to 2-6 with the loss, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Shelley will host Hillcrest at 3:30 p.m. on the 31st. As for Minico, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Century at 3:00 p.m. on April 3.
