Baseball Recap: Claysburg-Kimmel Makes It Five in a Row at Home

There's no place like home for Claysburg-Kimmel, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Curwensville Golden Tide on Wednesday. While the Bulldogs didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Gavin Treon made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. Treon was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Landon Douglas, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Porter Weise was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Claysburg-Kimmel's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Curwensville, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Looking ahead, Claysburg-Kimmel will host Moshannon Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Curwensville, they will challenge Marion Center at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
