Volleyball Recap: Wheeler Takes a Loss

Wheeler was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against the Mantachie Mustangs, falling 3-0. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Mustangs when the teams met back in August of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-5, 25-14.

Despite the loss, Wheeler saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Savannah Hancock had 19 digs. Those 19 digs set a new season-high mark for Hancock.

Wheeler's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Mantachie, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-6.

Looking ahead, Wheeler will take on New Site in a tournament on Saturday. As for Mantachie, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Mooreville at 6:00 p.m.
