Football Recap: Justice Can't Keep Pace with Elbert

Justice unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They received a blow on Saturday as they fell 40-22 to the Elbert Bulldogs. The Phoenixes have not had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Elbert's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hunter Neville, who rushed for 100 yards and a pair of scores on only 10 carries. Another back making a difference was Cole Nay, who rushed for 105 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Justice's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Elbert, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.

Justice will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Del Norte at 3:00 p.m. on September 5. As for Elbert, they will welcome Las Animas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
