Preview: Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers vs. Bridgeport Indians
The Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers and the Bridgeport Indians will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Saturday, Buckhannon-Upshur earned a 48-39 win over the Bearcats. The win was just what Buckhannon-Upshur needed coming off of a 66-45 defeat in their prior matchup.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Buckhannon-Upshur to victory, but perhaps none more so than Carter Zuliani, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 18 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ian Strader, who scored seven points along with seven assists and two steals.
Meanwhile, Bridgeport scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They put the hurt on Preston with a sharp 69-43 victory. Bridgeport has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 24 points or more this season.
Buckhannon-Upshur's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4. As for Bridgeport, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.
Buckhannon-Upshur might still be hurting after the 59-37 loss they got from the Indians in their previous matchup back in March of 2023. Can Buckhannon-Upshur avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
