Baseball Recap: Harmon Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Harmon hadn't done well against Wyandotte recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Hawks put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 17-2 win. Considering the Hawks have won five matches by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Gibson Miller looked comfortable as he struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Harmon is undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 4-6 otherwise.

At the plate, Harmon got a massive performance out of Izak Tovar, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. That's the most runs Tovar has posted since back in March. Chad Taylor was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.

Harmon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wyandotte only posted an OBP of .214.

The victory (which was Harmon's third in a row) raised their record to 7-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Wyandotte, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

Harmon will take on Northeast in a tournament on Friday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.76 runs per game on average), something the Hawks will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Wyandotte, they will head out to square off against Highland Park at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
