Softball Recap: West Central Area Comes Up Short

Swanville hit West Central Area with a six-run first inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Knights lost 9-2 to the Bulldogs. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2017.

Lily Mahoney spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and six unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, West Central Area saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brinley Ulrich, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases.

This is the second loss in a row for West Central Area and nudges their season record down to 10-8. As for Swanville, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 17-0.

As of now, neither West Central Area nor the Bulldogs have any future games scheduled.
