Baseball Game Preview: Miramonte Matadors vs. Mt. Diablo Red Devils

For the second straight game, Miramonte will face off against Mt. Diablo. The Matadors are taking a road trip to challenge the Red Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Miramonte is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.

Miramonte's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They blew past Mt. Diablo 39-0. The win continues a trend for the Matadors in their matchups with the Red Devils: they've now won six in a row.

George Gilbert was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with one home run, five runs, and three RBI. Those five runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Miramonte got a massive performance out of Damon Rodino, who went 4-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. Those two runs gave Rodino a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Rhys Sande, who went 3-for-4 with four runs and two RBI.

Miramonte always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .737. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Mt. Diablo moved to 7-6 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Miramonte, their record now sits at 10-5.

Mt. Diablo's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Miramonte hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .316. It's a different story for Mt.
